They also offer 187 Career and Technical Education courses in 50 schools, including programs in culinary arts, business, nursing, computers, and automotive technology. GCS currently celebrates its highest-ever four-year graduation rate - 89.8 percent. Fortunately, there are numerous great private schools within the Triad. Post high school the 2-year and 4-year college and university choices are just as impressive. Wake Forest University (WFU) combines the intimacy of a small liberal arts school with the academic vitality of a research university in which students pursue learning in one or more of the 45 majors, 60 minors, and additional programs offered within six colleges and schools. This past September, U.S. News & World Report ranked Wake as one of the Top 30 National Universities for the 23rd consecutive year. UNC Greensboro (UNCG) is 1 of only 50 doctoral institutions recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for both higher research activity and community engagement. Founded in 1891 and one of the original three UNC system institutions, UNC Greensboro is one of the most diverse universities in the state with 20,000+ students, and 2,800+ faculty and staff members representing 90+ nationalities. With 17 Division I athletic teams, 85 undergraduate degrees in over 125 areas of study, as well as 74 master's and 32 doctoral programs, UNC Greensboro is consistently recognized nationally among the top universities for academic excellence and value, with noted strengths in health and wellness, visual and performing arts, nursing, and education. With a campus uniquely designated as an actual botanical garden, Elon University (EU) is rich in the liberal arts and sciences and complemented by nationally accredited professional and graduate programs. The university's six schools serve a selective student body of 6,000. Elon is one of only seven private universities in the country with accredited schools of business, communications, education, law, and health sciences, plus a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society. The school's four-year graduation rate ranks in the top 10 percent of U.S. private universities. Piedmont International University (PIU) is a member of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). PIU is home to a diverse culture of students, over 50 areas of study, and quality athletic programs. The school ranked in the top 10 in the nation for affordability and #2 in the state of North Carolina for online education. With its growing collection of Academic Degree programs, Piedmont continues to solidify itself as the foundation for Christian higher education in the state.
