Charlotte Shout Festival (May 5-12, 2019), a city-wide art, music, food and film festival, will be the capstone event of CLT250. Charlotte has its green spaces, parks and even a theme park, but is most known for its professional sports. For the third consecutive year, Amusement Today named Carowinds' Fury 325 the "Best Steel Coaster." For an extra thrill, Carowinds will launch the first double launch rollercoaster in the spring named Copperhead Strike. Carowinds, the 400-plus acre theme park, is partly located in South Carolina. If water is your preference head to the U.S. National Whitewater Center to enjoy more than 30 land and water-based adventures throughout 1,300-acre of natural woodlands. Though the whitewater channel is closed during winter months, guests can still enjoy flatwater paddling on the Catawba River, as well as rock climbing, zip lining, a ropes course and a canopy tour. But, for the best way to experience Charlotte's sporty side, grab your drink, hotdog or grill if you are tailgating.
