THE ORIGINAL RELOCATION GUIDE — CHARLOTTE | VOLUME 2 — ISSUE 2 14 CHARLOTTE/MECKLENBURG face pace. First, and foremost is the Carolina Panther football franchise led by flamboyant nationally known quarterback, Cam Newton. The NFL team plays at the Bank of America stadium where fans go wild when the Panthers are playing at home. Charlotte is racing country, and NASCAR has a rabid following at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Learn how the sport got started and see relics from famed drivers at the NASCAR Hall of Fame which is connected to the Charlotte Convention Center. In the warmer months, baseball fans gather at BB&T ballpark when the Triple-A White Sox affiliate, Charlotte Knights, play. The team plays in what is called "the best ball park in minor league baseball" by Baseball America. Fans love the North Carolina Local Craft Beer Garden with drafts from favorite hometown breweries. The city welcomed the Charlotte Hounds, a Major League Lacrosse team in 2012. The team plays home games in the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte's Elizabeth neighborhood. In the fall and winter, hoop fans line up to watch the NBA Charlotte Hornets play, and the Charlotte Checkers, affiliated with the American Hockey League. The Checkers are the farm team for Raleigh's Carolina Hurricanes. Charlotte is a region of small neighborhoods aka mini-cities, each with a distinctive feel and energy. While there are plenty of housing options in the downtown area, many residents choose to live in neighborhoods surrounding the metro area's center. The North Davidson area (known as NoDa) features a vibrant arts community and is a favorite among 20- and 30-somethings. The Ballantyne neighborhood is an upscale community near highly ranked schools. Unique and electic neighborhoods are where locals and newcomers set down roots in Elizabeth, Myers Park, Dilworth, Cotswald and others. South End will be transformed when a new entertainment venue is built in the historic Pike's Soda Shop in the heart of the Design District.>> @sharecharloe @shareclt facebook.com/sharecharloe Mean People Don't SHARE sharecharloe.org
