VOLUME 10—ISSUE 1 67 THE ORIGINAL RELOCATION GUIDE — CHARLOTTE | VOLUME 2 — ISSUE 2 HOME DECOR Accent walls are big again: look to add a wallpaper mural. Before you close the door on this, wallpaper has come a long way and so has the adhesive that is used, much easier to take down when needed. Also, you can try the easy peel or removable wallpaper. Look to try these in the back of bookcases or a furniture piece, adding a pop of color or pattern. Kitchen/dining tables are a bit informal because that is how we really like to live. I love the counter height design, makes it easy to see over the sofa when used in an open floor plan. This is an area to pay attention to when you are looking at houses. We all know everyone loves to hang in the kitchen; when you encompass the TV area into the space it really turns it into the perfect spot for friends and family to gather. Really think about where to hang the TV so it can be seen from all areas. Nothing says home like having everyone together, the room filled with friends and family, and something great being made in the kitchen. I can go on and on about how to use the finds at the furniture market to help you put together a great and personal look for your home. Think about bringing in an interior designer to help you put together a plan that you can implement yourself or have some help with. Look to a designer for great local sources for samples and sales. Wayfair and Hayneedle are a nice source, but they are driven by what is selling, not by what is current. Another great way to see the hot ideas is to head to your local book store, grab a cup of coffee and flip thru for inspiration. I love to do this with friends, it is amazing to see what everyone is enjoying and the wonderful ideas. Moving is a challenging time, give yourself some grace and look for help to pull things together. Don't be afraid to try some different options for your furniture first, just because a chair was in the bedroom before does not mean it cannot be front and center in your new home. Try to think bigger than what you had before, and dream of what things can be with your great new space.
