65 THE ORIGINAL RELOCATION GUIDE — TRIANGLE NC | VOLUmE 16 — IssUE 1 St. DaviD'S School When Tom, a healthcare exec- utive in Chicago, was offered an exciting opportunity in Raleigh, he knew it would hinge on how it affected his family. After bringing his wife Angie to look at schools, they were dismayed. "We wanted a school that combined strong academics and athletics with spiritual development," explained Tom, "and we didn't know if that existed." Now their three children are thriving at just that kind of place. "If we hadn't found St. David's," Tom said, "We wouldn't have made the move." They spent two years searching for a school anywhere on the East Coast that would engage their children at the very highest levels academically and spiritually. Terri and her husband Jim left a notable prep school in Buffalo, their newly-built home, and 18 years of history to fnd that at St. David's. "What could be more important than our children's spiritual, moral, and academic development?" asked Terri. With their oldest now an honors college student, and their other two children well on their way, Terri sums it up, "It was the best decision we ever made!" "We made huge sacrifces – but we would make the same sacrifc- es again today!" said Ivey, who walked away from long-standing friendships, community, and their dream home to bring their daughter to St. David's. Her husband, Tom, still commutes to Henderson, an hour each way to work, but their commit- ment to see their daughter grow in the love of learning and voice & stage performance in a place with a "won- derful sense of community and faith" made the move entirely worth it.
