A free summer concert series, Boogie in the Park, entices people from May to October to bring out beach chairs or blanket in the evening (frst and third Sundays) to enjoy the music of roots reggae, bluegrass, jazz, rock, folk and other genres. Kids can join a princess and her fairytale friends from Fairytales and Dreams by the Sea at Kure Beach's Ocean Front Park for stories, crafts and games on Wednesday mornings. This free program starts on June 15th and continues through August 31st. Families who like to eat fresh go to the Kure Beach Market (Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to shop for locally grown produce and hand crafted goods while enjoying beautiful ocean views. A short distance from the Cape Fear beaches and Wilmington, are the beaches of Onslow County, the military city of Jacksonville and the surrounding towns of Sneads Ferry and Swansboro. Topsail Island and its beaches, Topsail Beach, North Topsail and Surf City entice annual vacationers and locals to "retreat, relax and repeat" in the quiet island time culture. The island made the TripAdvisor list of "30 Rising Vacation Rental Destinations" in 2015 for its "southern-facing geography that offers amazing sunrises and sunsets, often visible right from your kitchen window or outdoor patio." Piers are favorite gathering spots and North Topsail Pier, Surf City Pier, and the Jolly Roger Pier reward young and old with a spectacular view and unforgettable memories. Local mom and pop shops serve up old fashioned food with a smile. Island Delights is a favorite 1950s style sandwich/ ice cream shop with hand-patted burgers and homemade waffe cones. At Sears Landing, food comes with a view. "The shrimp Po- boy is 'delish' said local, Gretchen Stumpf, and the view of the Sound is awesome." >> Andrew Pierce, CNE Realtor/Broker 910-508-2768 www.apierce.seacoastrealty.com 25 Years experience in New Home Sales and Construction GET THE APP!
