Or, experience Italian food at its best at Pierro's Italian Bistro. The authentic cuisine takes you to Italy with every mouthful. Wash it all down with a beer brewed by former military personnel in Hope Mills. Try the signature Kolsch or the Cold Brew Mocha Porter featuring cold brewed coffee made in-house with beans roasted at Cumberland Coffee Roasters. Festivals that are found only in Fayetteville make the city worthy of a road trip. A large Caribbean-American population is attributed to the presence of Fort Bragg military base. The International Folk Festival and Dog- wood Festival are Fayetteville's two largest events. The International Folk Festival in September allows residents and visitors to travel around the world in one weekend — without leaving downtown. The event celebrates the community's rich cultural diversity with music and dance, arts and crafts and international food. The city's signature event is the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival which heralds the arrival of spring each year in April. Annual attendance is estimated at 150,000. Parks and trails are making a way for families and all ages to connect with nature. A vision that took 12 years to complete was finalized in 2015 when the Cross Creek Linear Park Trail was completed. Local leader and resi- dent, Harry Shaw, led the effort with the help of commu- nity leaders. The 2.8-mile trail, which runs from Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville to the dog park on U.S. 301, follows the Cape Fear River. "It's been a dream for many people for a long time," said Shaw. "The trail has become a symbol of downtown Fayetteville and it has restored people's faith and ability to get things done." Other parks in the area include: Lake Rim Park, Clark Park, Mazarick Park and Arnette Park. Lake Rim, Clark and Mazarick are in the city limits and are staffed with park rangers that provide nature programming. Arnette Park is in unincorporated Cumberland County. The Cape Fear Botanical Garden is nature's gift to the region. The 80-acre urban forest showcases nature trails, a natural amphitheater and a varied terrain from a hardwood forest to lush riverbank. Ponds, pools and waterways, attract birds and other fauna. Specialty gardens include the Camellia, Daylily and Shade garden which feature hosta, columbine and other plants that require dense amounts of shade. The Butterfly Stroll, an addition to the Children's Garden, is a 450-foot, paved walk beside the Cypress pond and showcases numerous "butterfly irresistible" plant varieties. With almost three miles of paths, trails and plenty of beautiful scenery, the gardens are a great alternative to health clubs. All fitness levels can take a walk for light exercise. For a higher level of fitness, try an instructor led class of yoga, Zumba or Tai Chi. >> Formerly known as Heritage Village Supporting Military Families • Affordable Housing • Pet Friendly/No Breed Restrictions At Raeford Fields, we make living affordable for all families by offering two and four bedroom single family brick homes that give you more "home" and great amenities. · Pet Friendly (No Breed Restrictions) · Recreational fields, dog park, picnic areas · Playgrounds · Basketball, volleyball and tennis courts · Sidewalks throughout the community · On-site responsive maintenance and on-call 24/7 emergency · Upgraded options available including fenced yards • Attached garage · Fully furnished corporate homes upon request This unique gated community, nestled in a country setting, is close to local shopping and Fort Bragg.
