The Epicentre is at the center of Charlotte's entertainment and nightlife scene. Whether it's a casual lunch you are looking for, a movie or sipping on a cocktail on a rooftop bar, the open-air complex offers three floors chock full of options to choose from. There's more ways to let your hair down in Charlotte that you can shake a stick at – translated: there is a lot to do here. Relaxing indoors is easy but the urban city has plenty of ways to get outside. Green spaces are plentiful with more than 210 parks, 37 miles of greenway, 30 plus golf courses, fitness trails and greenways, biking and more. Charlotte has an avid racing community and hosts many races annually, along with the annual Charlotte Observer Marathon that started in 1977. To get on the water Charlotteans head to Lake Norman to boat, fish or take in a scenic view. The biggest manmade lake in North Carolina spans the north end of the county while the amusement park, Carowinds Theme Park, takes visitors and residents to South Charlotte. The park continues to grow and expand each year with new rides and entertainment. One of Carowind's newer adventures is the County Fair with four new rides: Electro-Spin, Zephyr, Rock N Roller, and DO-SI-DO. If sports are your thing, Charlotte has big sports: NFL team Carolina Panthers, NBA Charlotte Hornets, NASCAR, PGA, AAA baseball and an NHL/AHL affiliate, not to mention collegiate sports. Charlotte hosts national sporting events all year including home games when the Panthers, Hornets and other teams are in town. Charlotte will host the 99th PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow golf course in 2017. Adrenalin junkies head to the U.S. National Whitewater Center for whitewater rafting, kayaking and other activities.
